Energy saving - environmental protection - comfort
The energy sector is responsible for over 80% of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe, 21.3% percent of which come from power plants alone that produce electrical energy and thus supply the power grid.
The Brucklyn Quarter is self-sufficient in renewable energy and uses it as effectively as possible through sector coupling, but can also feed surplus energy production into the grid to supply others with renewable energy, thus relieving fossil fuel power plants and reducing their production.
However, this requires the neighborhood itself to save as much energy as possible. This is where our wireless window handles come in, which automatically turn off the air conditioning in the room when the windows are open, thus preventing energy waste.
How the window handles work
Often, when you open the windows, you forget to turn off air conditioners. To help out here, we have replaced the conventional window handles with wireless window handles.
These send a signal via the EnOcean wireless standard to one of our EnOcean gateways, which then switches off the air conditioners in the room via the KNX building automation system.
SecuSignal® wireless window handles from Hoppe
SecuSignal® wireless window handles are an ideal convenience component for any type of building automation system. Whether for smart home applications in the private sector or for large building complexes: The information about the position of the window handle can improve automatic building technology processes – for example, networked heating, ventilation or lighting – in such a way that energy efficiency and comfort are noticeably increased.
What is EnOcean?
EnOcean GmbH is the pioneer for energy harvesting. They harvest energy for their wireless sensors from the immediate environment – from motion, light and temperature. With their technology, they supply the data for the digitalization of our world in a resource-saving, energy-autonomous and maintenance-free way. These enable sustainable energy and information use and are the foundation for digitized buildings, services and production processes in the Internet of Things.
Fun Fact: EnOcean GmbH is one of our immediate neighbors in Oberhaching near Munich!
